about

Draisine recorded a new album the fifth one baptised in tribute to both the wordcraft of johnny cash folk singer and the mightily mysterious radio-astronomical phenomenon "r.r.a.t.s." with approximatively one hour of music duration divided into four parts first "evil laughter (for the hearing impaired)" then "iddqd" a renowned secret code then "palace is a miracle" and finally from a dream "molineli" all of them being improvised and edited by constantin dubois choulik in twenty fourteen using guitar effects voice synth and including some binaural effects best experienced on headphones. (2014)

So, with 2024, Draisine's R.R.A.T.S. turns 10 years old. After listening to it again yesterday, I am incredibly proud of that record (initially planned for a LP release that never happened). So as a birthday present, it was just mastered for the first time this year. The title was a double wink, first to Johnny Cash's "Rants And Rages At The Stars" line from his song "The Beast In Me", but also, oddly enough to a radio astronomical phenomenon of the same name : rotating radio transients. Finally, the cover was modified from the San Quentin album where I erased the figure of Cash and replaced it with my hand drawn beast.
